Coronavirus affected the entire world, but then India, as always, is super conscious than rest of the world -at least on paper! While other countries and people are back to their work and life, India still struggles to be on the mend! It is for this reason, the ‘real businessmen’ of IPL shifted the entire game from India to UAE. The Emirates are known for their hospitality and glorious infrastructure. Even further, they were the ones who attracted billions of people in 70s and 80s with their Sharjah cricket series then.
Indeed, the game of cricket is to enjoy batting, bowling, and fielding by fielders – but more excitement comes from the ‘loudest’ cheering from the crowd. If there are no audience or people in thousands, there is no fun. It is for this reason, many of my friends don’t watch matches, especially IPL matches, on TV. They spend thousands of bucks to watch it in the stadiums. In fact, a few of them even travel to other places by flight to enjoy the ‘roaring’ of audiences.
The strangest part, unprecedented in the history of IPL or cricket, is that there is no audience in the stadium. When the first match was played in Abu Dhabi, apart from the team players and organizers, barely one could see any person sitting in the stadium. Of course, covid19 has terribly affected people gathering, but empty stadium takes off the soul from the game.
The ‘fake’ laughter and claps have been quite a normal practice in TV shows. Right from Jaspal Bhatti’s Flop Show to then innocent Ekta Kapoor’s Hum Paanch, all comedy shows have ‘recorded’ applause and laughter! You can catch it by hearing it closely and finding the ‘same pattern’ every time.
The fake laughter and claps have now gotten into ‘cricket’ for the first time. Many memes have been taking rounds on the social media or Internet about having ‘fake’ claps and cheering on each six and four by du Plessis! Some of the social media users also caught that they were their sounds from Vankhedhe.
The Kapil Sharma is honest! He shows the life size ‘cut outs’ of people and asks his bands to play the rounds of applause. Plus, he also says that we proudly play ‘laughter’ that is recorded. As far as clapping is concerned, he told audience that they shouldn’t consider the ‘clapping’ fake because a few of his crew members are sitting in front and also that they are ‘paid’ for clapping! That’s an additional income for them.
