In the world of restaurant food from Zomato & Swiggy there is always special place for Home Food in everyone’s heart. Specially for bachelors who left their home in search of job in tier 1 & 2 cities. During the pandemic, food delivery was the only option. However, anxiety regarding hygiene and safety has always been there with restaurant food. Home chefs with FSSAI license are regarded as more reliable & economical.
Twenty-six-year-old Tanvay Shinde, who pursued his Masters from Institute of Chemical Technology, and his college friend 25-year-old Shaurya Kuchhal, who was earlier with Bristlecone (Mahindra Group), noticed a rise in demand for home-cooked food, and decided to launch Zaiko. The platform caters to delivery of home cooked meals by home chefs.
We have seen good response from home chefs who are willing to partner with zaiko. Currently we are delivering in Mumbai & Pune.
Major challenge is, finding reliable home chefs in a specific area to provide tasty home food. Initially we have tested the market with orders within friends, family and thier companies. They loved the idea. We have already partnered with over 30+ home chefs serving more than 200+ Locations. We at Zaiko are also focused on providing entrepreneurial opportunities to home chefs who are passionate to cook & start their own business, but do not have capital investment to start a restaurant/cloud kitchen.
How it Works
Once a home chef has been identified, we have 100+ hours allocated to particular chef which includes removal of fssai license for them & help me understand importance of hygiene standards. Once all the requirements are matched then only we onboard chefs. We also teach our chefs for food productivity, fast dispatch & food quality.
Customer have a subscription service, where people can subscribe to weekly or monthly basis. The average order value is around Rs 100.
We managed 100 orders per day. We are expecting to grow very soon. We have seen 30x growth compare to last year 2020 & continuing to grow with same pace.
In doing our part for the society, we also have taken innitiative of donation of the meals. We have donated about 500+ meal to migrants & poor people in slums.
Zaiko has expanded to two major cities Mumbai & Pune covering about 200+ locations. We are looking to expand in other cities like Delhi, Hyderabad & banglore. We are also planning to onboard 50 more Chefs in above cities. We are DPIIT registered startup & are on mission to generate employment to 100 people.
