LOCAL STORES CAN NOW CREATE THEIR ONLINE STORE IN LESS THAN 20 SECONDS
Creating an e-commerce platform or costly. It starts from an upfront payment of Rs. 15,000 and can reach lakhs of rupees. Along with this, it requires marketing help, promotion, managing the backend through a complicated Content Management System (CMS) and so on and so forth. Many stores do not have that money and even the bandwidth to dedicate their time to a full IT setup. Moreover, it takes ages to get the website or app up and running.
Many restaurants take help of delivery apps to help them with their online sales. But the huge commission they need to pay dries up their entire sales figures.
But now, local stores, restaurants and business will be able to create their online store within just under 20 seconds for free. They can upload their own categories, add products, share them with customers, family and friends and can define the area where they want to deliver the products. There is zero percent commission involved for any products sold, thus making it totally free for businessmen to open their stores.
The app that is making this all possible is Grofshop (Group of Shops) which is India\’s first cluster-based marketplace. They operate totally on a radius model, where stores need to define a radius of delivery. If any store doesn’t want to deliver, they can also opt for just pick-up where customers can book a product and pick it up from the store whenever possible.
Partha Borthakur first stared Grofshop in 2015 along with Sharanga Dihingia, Dhiru Sarania and Jugal Bora. They were present in the form of a website only. They were also one the first companies in Northeast to create a Progressive Web App (PWA). The team successfully onboarded more than 400 stores from Guwahati alone, but they were crippled by the lack of revenue. They started searching for funds, but were not successful as the startup ecosystem was not all all developed in this part of the country then. So they had to shut shop in 2018 after which all the members went to do jobs in different companies like Tata Motors Limited, Mankind Pharma and different Government organizations.
Fast forward to 2020, Covid stuck and they imagined rise of their idea again. They started working on Grofshop again and finally launched the app in March, 2021.
Starting a Grofshop store is as easy as it gets. Register and start selling. No coding knowledge required. It is as easy as using Whatsapp. Grofshop allows you to share your store, products and everything through Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram as well.
