JhaJi Store sells traditional homemade pickles made by women using authentic recipes from Mithilanchal in Bihar.
JhaJi Store exists to celebrate Mithila’s culture and we derive all our strength and uniqueness from it. Our purpose is best reflected or aligned with this local proverb
Mithila Culture has a rich set of products we will have in our portfolio, starting with pickles. The product team is deeply rooted in the region’s culture and can deliver a traditional taste with ingredients that make our products unique
Just like the Maithili language, we win our customers’ hearts with exceptional #CustomerService and courteous communication #Hospitality. In 4 short months, the business has sold pickles worth more than Rs. 16L to 3000 customers all over the country, and has received ~250 5-star reviews from people who love that the pickles and packaging reflect Mithila\’s culture authentically.
JhaJi Store is about more than selling pickles or namkeens. It stands for revitalising Maithili Sanskriti. This #Purpose gives us relevance in our customers’ lives.
Kalpana and Uma Jha started this business to take Mithila’s authentic taste to people who have once lived in the region but have since moved out for work or education.
Over the last 30 years, both of them have been shipping pickles to friends and family everywhere from New Delhi to New York.
The pickles are made using local, all-natural ingredients and spices sourced from small-scale farmers and traders in Samastipur and Muzaffarpur. JhaJi’s pickles are completely free of all artificial or chemical preservatives and colors.
JhaJi Store is an honest and conscious business that employs mostly underprivileged women, but also men, who have seen their family income triple in the few months they have been working with JhaJi. The business also spends 2% of its revenues directly towards the cause of girl child education.
JhaJi Store appeals to a global population of culturally aware, or culturally open individuals who either come from the Mithila region or know people who do.
We\’re seeing several different personas interacting with us in the last couple months.
