Starting with a single man’s thirst for drinking the flavours of nature, a unique concept of doorstep nature has come into play. We have been subscribing to sites and channels of youtube as our interest. Have we ever thought of taking a subscription for an agricultural farm or imagined of monitoring your own agricultural farm on a mobile app? That is how Farms2Families stands as a unique concept.
Vishwas Gupta, the founder of Farms2Families, after finishing his MBA and various work experience in India and abroad did not find work satisfaction. He stayed in the hills of Uttarakhand for relishing the fresh air and peaceful mind. After returning home he found that the organic vegetables grown there had a delightful taste which he missed in his urban life. He then worked ponderously with farmers and agricultural scientists in building an organic farming network.
In urban life, we are not sure of the origin of the food we eat. It may pose serious threats like food-borne diseases due to contamination and improper handling practices. Also pesticides and heavily applied fertilizers to the farms to increase the yield may, in the long run, cause serious health disorders such as cancers and several other malfunctions.
On the other side, farmers don’t get the right price for their produce and in order to increase the yield and to prevent the crops from climatic stress and crop diseases are pushed to use huge pesticides and fertilizers to the farms, which makes the food highly contaminated and leave the farms infertile in the long run.
Farms2Families came as a solution to all the problems related to food production in that Vishwas Gupta through Farms2Families created a network of farmers and imparted them knowledge about the need for organic vegetables. He started allocating a piece of land to clients demanding organic vegetables and cultivated organically the vegetables for the clients with the
the help of trained farmers and hygienically packing and delivering at the client’s doorstep.
A client can monitor all the activities using a mobile app and the network is highly transparent which eliminates the trust issue in what we are consuming. Also, the system uses pre-sold cultivation activity that is once the subscription is taken by the client it means that for the farmer even before starting the cultivation his produce has been sold. This pre-sold activity protects the interests of the farmers and provides them with stable prices even in the offseason.
“Our client should know from where their food is coming, who is their farmer, whether they are fulfilling all the criteria of the organic market and most importantly, whenever they want, they can monitor their farmland through our live streaming mobile app 24*7”.
Farms2Families offer several customized subscription plans as 4 member family plan and 8 member family plan. A client can include any seasonal or exotic vegetable to the subscription list. It was started in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad and company is well growing. Now the network is expanding into Delhi, Gurgaon and Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Pune.
“We are working with a group of 15+ farmers’ families and catering more with expansion. We are targeting 250+ client families and 100+ farmers’ families with the expansion. We are delivering presently at the 97% accuracy rate of delivery and working towards 100% efficiency”.
“We promote sustainable agricultural practices in an effort to promote organic agriculture we implement several green practices such as usage of green manure, waste management by effective utilization of farm wastes such as weeds, vegetable wastes and livestock wastes”.
Vishwas had the big vision of making entire India organic and is working tirelessly in making it true. He developed a model to achieve this motto which worked out for him which also gave hopes to the urban customer who wants to taste healthy and delightful organically grown fresh vegetables and the farmer who is going to get better prices.
