As per our Indian culture no cutting/stitching is required especially for wedding attire because in some states of our country, its considered a bad omen, so in view of those factors there are following few tips you may use it. So let’s talk on the methods you can reuse your heavy wedding duppata.

  1. You can drape your heavy dupatta with plain /light weight lehanga choli
  2. Wear heavy dupatta with plain anarkali
  3. With dhoti pants & blouse, you can drape your dupatta as a saree to give you dhoti saree look

Long Shrug:

Design your dupatta as a long shrug. Front panels and sleeves can be made from dupatta and for back, use plain fabric. The same colour maxi dress can be worn inside to give you a complete look

Long Kurti with Shrug:

Create long kurti from dupatta and wear plain shrug over it. You can wear these shrugs with dhoti pants and crop top for a different look.

Long Capes:

Create Long Capes of your dupatta. Just cut the neck shape in centre of your dupatta to form a cape and pair them with long gowns, lehangas or full length flairy outfits

Cape Sleeves:

These type of sleeves can be formed from dupatta and used on plain gowns as well

Short Straight Kurtis:

This can also be created from dupatta by using the borders in front slit and can be paired with gararas or shararas.

Flaired Short Kurtis:

For short kurtis, you may even add a pleated or gathered flared around the waist area and can use the borders of dupatta at the hem of this flare. Borders can also be used on sleeves and at the bottom of your garara or pant flair too.

Long Kurta:

Create long kurta from dupatta and you can flaunt it with plain churidaar along with plain dupatta

Flaired Garara:

Consume garaara flair using dupatta. This heavy garara can be paired with plain kurti and plain dupatta

Long Flaired Skirt:

Good amount of flaired long skirt can be formed using dupatta and flaunt this with any types of your upper wear. To have an indo western look, you may wear anarkali/long kurta over this long skirt

Partial Saree:

Attatch dupatta with another dupatta or 2.5mtrs fabric, remove the border from the side and stitch with the other fabrics. That’s it ! You will have a partial saree ready for yourself !! In case, you want to create a new look, you may detach that and you may reuse it.
